Default PTV and TP stamps

Thanks to documents and photos from Joe Wotka's archive, I have been able to resolve (to my satisfaction, at least) my questions about these stamps found on the barrels of reworked police P08s, police holsters and elsewhere.

It is well-known that the PTV/eagle stamps found on the barrels of reworked police P08s indicates the rework was performed by the Berlin police armory which was part of the Polizeischule f¼r Technik und Verkehr opened in Berlin in 1927.

Joe's documents reveal that this "school" was renamed Technische Landespolizeischule in 1934 and Technische Polizeischule in 1936. Photos show that use of the entwined TP stamp probably began in 1935.

Based on this information, it is reasonable to assume that the PTV stamp was used by the Berlin police armory from 1928 to 1935 and the entwined TP stamp from 1935 onward.

This topic will be included in my forthcoming book on German police markings.
