Search YouTube for ejector re-assembly details. Seems like you insert one end and then press it in as you move either fore, or aft, with thumb pressure. But it has been a long time.
Others will help you with the side plate issue.

The rear of the ejector needs to be gently lifted in order to clear a small seating/locking protrusion on the frame.

The problem with the gun not resetting the firing pin is most likely related to the plunger at the end of the sear bar. make sure there is no debris around the sear and that the plunger moves freely. I have buffed the side of the plunger that faces farthest outward to make sure it both clears and resets the firing pin.

Check the side plate to ensure that it is laying flat and level with the side of the receiver and frame.

This part was hand fit by armorers when it was installed. That's why it is uniquely numbered.

The one you're trying to use may require some fitting. I would not recommend that you try it yourself unless you have experience.
