Default S /42 G-date

hi guys,

in a small gun-shop i found a disassembled Luger in original condition. it is (was)completely matching, including the mag. it has 95% bluing. looks great.

then i saw something terrible that made my heart bump!

the trainee got this gun from the shop-owner for training to blue guns! she (it's a girl) grinded the good side-plate and the safety-lever so much, that the sn could only be seen a little bit. what a pity! i think, that i could buy it for a low rate, but is it a good deal? is it a fake, if i reblue the two parts? your opinions please.

Wow--take a $1200 gun and make it a $300 gun. What a business! I am surprised this business owner survived to adulthood let alone can run a business ostensibly about things he apparently knows little about.

Rust blue repair of the gun and deepening of the markings would be partial restoration. If someone with a good eye and a sunny place to inspect the finish can match the original finish parts, it would be more valuable than a totally refinished pistol. My guess is it would be worth about $600-700 if expertly repaired but that is a wild guess.

I hate to hear stories like these.
