Just picked this one up hope I got the pics loaded on right. Everything matches from the grips, firing pin, toggle, extractor trigger, anything that has a number matches. One magazine matches and the other is a wood bottom but different number. Holster I got with it is a 1918 with take down tool/mag loader.
It's stamped

So much valuable info on here and wanted to thank everyone for the info and help they post.

Thank you, lugers are new to me. I have nambu type 14s and rem rand 1911s and others but wanted to get into the lugers. Could'nt pass this one up. A taurus pt1911 and a beretta 92fs and it's all mine Not to bad of a trade. There is just a few freckles here and there in the bore, the lands and groves are very shapr and there is good shine in there too, considering the ammo and conditions all old firearms went through. I took it all apart, it was'nt cocking and the arm that latches on to the spring assembly was'nt connected so the guy at the pawn store said it was junk, did'nt work. I had a hunch it was something internal. Just like any FN 1922 i've bought usually firing pin tip is broke or the pin follower is a nail modified to work. Seems these striker fired pistols all suffer from some similar problem with firing pins and followers at times. I'll get better pictures of it the grips on the inside are numbered and the mag bottom too, to the pistol. I do have one wood bottomed mag that does not match but is WWI vintage if someone would be looking for a mag for their WWI Luger. I have some aftermarkets I'll use for shooting keep the original in good shape and the extra one if someone needed one would help them out.

Hi Jerry, Welcome to the forum. Congratulations, you seem to have hit a home run in your first at bat. Imperial Ligers with matching mags are quite rare and your gun appears to be in very nice original condition. We'd love to see some more photos of the holster and the mag bases if you can. Your offer to give up that extra magazine is very generous, but don't be in such a hurry, nice Imperial mags, even non matching ones are hard to come by. Regards, Norm.

You mention shooting this pistol. Please don't!! Any numbered part that breaks drops the pistol's value by about one half!

Buy a mismatched shooter if you want to experience Luger shooting!

Thank you for the welcome and I don't plan on shooting it on a regular basis. I understand fully the supply versus demand of parts for these and other pistols out there. Some of my FN's and Nambus are hard to find parts for. I just wanted to shoot this one to make sure it functioned fully not that a non shooter is a bad thing but one that shoots and functions always is a nice thing as well. But I will keep this one in the safe and preserve it for the future collectors out there.

So sad to see any collectable firearm damaged and lost. And never want to see anyone hurt either. I had taken it all apart and looked everyting over making sure springs and all parts were where they should be and working. Although I know malfuntions can happen at any time and I"m not a certified gunsmith. I have WWI rifles I don't shoot with anything but handloads that are loaded down. I will put this one away and keep it all original. I don't want to mess it up or hurt myself either. Thank you Norm for that post.

Thank you Jerry, It'll be a safe queen. Been reading on here about alot of different lugers. More for admiering and collecting from what I read. Compared to WWII are the WWI's more collectible in general. I know variations and makers will always determine rarity and value compared to other dates and wars.
And are the nickel mags with wood bottoms that rare from what I've been reading. Lugers are rather new to me and have been looking through tons of stuff on here and learning more by the minute.

Curious as to what the value of this Luger may be. I'll never sell it but see alot of others on here and people toss values out there. Curious as to what this one I have may be worth. I have books and such and internet sites but those vary alot.

Don't want to venture a value, but Jerry at Luger holster repair can enhance that value by repairing the closure strap on your holster..

I was thinking about it after reading alot on here about holsters and online and such. And how it adds value but to me I'll never sell it, pass it on one day that I'll do. I've got nambus and FN's and other pistols and the only thing with closure straps I've encountered is that once I have had them fixed it always takes away from the original value. Even though they are damaged, missing a bit of the end and such, once it's taken off that original piece of the holster is gone. My uncle was in WWII and had liberated an FN1922 Waffen marked and matched mag from a Soldier and the closure strap was missing when he took it of the soldiers body. To have it replaced would take away from it's hisotry already having been gone when he got it. So I try and stay away from taking off an original part and replacing it. Just in case that piece was lost due to battle or use by the soldier carrying it. Guess it's a 50/50 decision kind of like reblueing a firearm. The war and sacrafice of so many people that these firearms were used in and the stories of each individual that gave his all will always be to me the true value behind these relics of a time past and no money value could ever outweigh that. Maybe I'm wrong but just my opinion.
