I went to my local gun shop today and they had a P08 byf 41 marked Luger in the case. They're selling it as a shooter grade piece for $600... It's could be had for $550. It's been renumbered and the bluing is really good.... looked like a reblue. It had plastic stocks and a commercial proofed barrel. My first thought was a Russian capture that someone swapped the barrel on. It didn't have the crossed Mosin RC marks. What it did have was an interesting SWS* mark on the bottom front strap by the magazine well.
What is SWS*? |

It could be lots of things. But are you sure it is SWS altogether or were there periods in between?

Sounds like a VOPO Luger...one put into service by the East German government after the war. Photos would help but I would bet money on it.

It could have been S.W.S *
If I had the extra coin and were that serious I'd go back and get pictures. It doesn't seem like a bad price. |
