Hey guys,
I was at the Lakeland FL, gun show today and as luck would have it I think I helped a former workmate from getting ripped off. I have not seen this fellow in about eight plus years but, I happened to walk up while he was showing a Luger he had obtained from his uncle that was a vet bring back. The dealer is one I have seen at many shows and has some Lugers that he always wants too much for. He had been offered about $1000 for the rig. Thankfully due to the sentimental value he did not take the deal even thought the dealer was about to tug his arm off. After we had moved away from the dealer I was able to look over the rig. I was glad I was able to give him some info with my limited knowledge. I suggested that we link up later in the week to let me get some good macro shots and come to the forum so he can make a much more informed decision on his piece. I want to get some good photos and get him a fair price for the piece even if it's not gong to end up in my collection I'd rather see a fair deal made. Now for the details I can remember until I can get the photos taken and uploaded next week. First and foremost this gun has both matching mags. The first time I have ever seen one with BOTH mags in person and did not think (boosted) in my head. 9mm 1939 chamber mark, 42 toggle mark four digit serial number with s as the letter range. All parts that are visible are matching (I was not able to field strip I will do so later) military style markings. Waffen mark 63 and 65 present on many parts there were three stamps on the slide I can't remember the last one. The barrel is witness marked with one strike. Small parts are blue. Both mags have the same font as the frame and match one has the + mark and they are both alu. bottom with waffen 63 blue finish. Take down tool is missing. Holster is marked 1935 Berlin with waffen marks and looks to be original. Brown leather still solid all looks sound / correct it has what looks like a slot for a cleaning rod under the lid as well as the takedown tool pouch. Overall there is some honest holster wear and there is a vet SSN lightly scrathed on the front grip strap. So that's it for now I plan to try and get more info and photos looking to yield to the floor now for your initial thoughts. Thanks.
