I just purchased Mauser Luger S/42 Serial #1847. The magazine has no markings and just looks too new to be original. Would the original magazine for this luger have the steel bottom plate? What would be the changes of finding the original magazine out there somewhere?

More info and pictures are needed... doesn't sound like the magazine is original to the gun though. I believe for an S/42 the magazine would have an aluminum base numbered to the gun. What year is your Luger? Wouldn't count on finding the original magazine... but you never know.

Chris, You chances of finding the ORIGINAL issued mag (folded blued tube with aluminum bottom) with proper number, suffix letter and acceptance proof are slightly better than winning the lottery (1 out of a million). TH
