I went by the new Cabelas North of Fort Worth today. They have a room called the Gun Library where the expensive stuff is displayed. Saw an Italian rifle, that sells for $56,999.99. They have four Lugers and six P-38 in the room.
The Lugers consisted of: 1914 Artillery SN 672 - $1695 1917 Erfurt - $1299 1920 DWM - $ 850 1906 American Eagle - $3295

Either one of them could be the one that is left. It was laying on its other side in the case. Gotta get me one of those one of these days...

The Lp08 they have now appears to be a 1914 DWM LP08 and I feel that it is a total counterfeit.
I have informed the store of my opinion just in case they give a darn. |

George, You are more optimistic and caring that I thought! You actually think some guy behind the counter at Cabellas knows which end a bullet comes out of? much less, has the interest of an unsuspecting buyer at the top of his list? Purchasing a bogus Artillery? Maybe....Let's hope so....Jerry Burney

A while back, the MN shop of Cabellas' had a bunch of luger offerings that were just not-right guns. For example, they had a cabine and a LP-08 with an improper 3rd. rear sight (on the rear toggle link) and many were obviously refinished as well.
Emails written by several LF members convinced the Cabellas folks to return the bogus lugers to the consignment seller in MN...and if I recall correctly, even one LF member bought and returned to Cabellas one of the bogus M1914 navy lugers as well. One would only hope this "supplier" is on their black-list for a long time... |
