Hey Guys,

Just picked up this Beretta 1934.

Does anyone know what the IVU or MR markings signify?

Nice Gun Mark... I have always thought that the 1934 Beretta's were a classy looking design...

Thanks, I have recently acquired an interest in them as I think you can still find nice examples for short money. Another collector has informed me via private email that the IVU marking is actually (4U) for the 4th technical control unit of the FAG applied during fascist control. It is where the gun was inspected, the MR is the inspectors initials.

The 1944 dated, 1935 Berettas have a 4UT marking (which we are more familiar with) on the grip tang which has the same meaning but applied under the Nazi occupation of the Beretta factory.

There was a webpage that told what all the markings were. I "believe" those markings were acceptance marks. I tried to find the page but couldn't, sorry................B

Here is what I remember, take it with a grain of salt. The MR was a build stamp, year or such. The IVU was the Italian Bureau acceptance mark. The RE was Army issue. Anybody else?!?!?!?!?!.......................B
