Found this holster, have not seen any to compare it to. On the surface it looks ok to me, but want to get opinions. It is offered at $355 I know that this is a rare holster, but is the price in line or high?

Doug, Sure looks in fine condition. Luger leather is going up every day. I say if you want it to complete your rig, get it. These are a scarce holsters to find in this shape. At 350 you could even turn it and make a buck or two. I can't recall ever seeing on on eBay. Jerry Burney

I agree with Richard and Jerry. It is a tough holster to find, particularly in what appears to be nice condition. Go for it...as Tom A. says: "you can always get more money" but you can't always find a decent GNR holster.

OK, I'll let the cat out of the bag so to speak. The seller is DKF from copperas Cove Texas. the 4355 was his opening price and he wants $700 for it! I think I will pass on it. He did mention that he would take Lugers or parts in trade, but I'll have to inflate my prices if I want to get a decent deal.

DKF has a reserve on EVERYTHING and his prices are twice as high as I'd pay and his pictures twice as crappy as I'd want to believe...

Yep, $700 is too much. Actually this holster is a lot better than the usual stuff this guy has. At $425-450 I would have to think twice, and then end up buying it (if I didn't already have one). At $700 run, do not walk, away (unless you have deep pockets and really-really want a decent GNR).

Guys,
I just bought this GNR holster from Bob Simpson's shop. It was only $ 175.00. http://www.simpsonltd.com/Merchant2/...tegory_Code=HL I actually bought it for one of our LF members who lives in France and did not speak enough English to talk to the folks at the Simpson shop in detail. My "handling fee" for this transaction is $ 10 for me to ship it to France... I thought this holster was in vg shape and priced very well. I think it went, un-noticed, on the web site for over 1 month because the "opening" web page actually showed this to be a P-38 holster...but the other detailed photos and the text description proved it to be a GNR, instead... ![]() Regards, Pete... |

IMHO your friend in France just scored a real bargain and your "halo" shines a little brighter for helping to make the transaction go through. You are a good guy Pete.

Just another example of the "pay it forward" attitude of the members on this forum. Good show Pete.
By the way, if you have never seen it, the movie of the same name is a great family movie... quite entertaining...

Took a closer look at this France-bound GNR holster a bit more today, on Sunday...(and am developing some remorse about my decision to be a nice guy... ). Actually, it will ship to France the early part of next week...
The back of the holster is stamped "GNR" and has a "1936" date stamp. The low-hanging belt loop was then attached over parts of these stamps with four (4) aluminum rivots. This blet loop is stamped "43" and also "21". I assume a date of 1943 and issue or property number "21"...? But the odd thing is that from the inside of the holster, you can see "old" stitiching lines for a single, wide belt loop...i.e. like on the M2 holsters. Looks like the GNR holsters used both styles of belt loops...??? A couple of new photos : Regards, Pete... |
