I'm kind of green on Lugers so I hope these questions aren't too stupid. I just traded a bunch of stuff to a friend and ended up with this Luger. It is a 1939/42 variation. It's probably in about 90%+ condition. It has all matching numbers including two numbered and matching magazines and numbered holster. It also has the Waffenampt (sp?) marked takedown tool.
What would a fair market value be? How should I store it for posterity? I saw a page on how to clean the grips with soap and water, what do you all think about that? One grip is a little loose. Mr. G, welcome to the Lugerforum! There is no such thing as a stupid question... only stupid answers... I hope this one won't fall into that category...
![]() Very Nice Luger Rig... my only concern is whether or not the finish is original or it has been refinished... I can't quite tell from the photos. Could post additional large photos on your website? I would like to see the top of the pistol and a couple shots of the forward receiver area near the serial number and chamber... one from the front of the trigger guard showing the serial number and suffix letter. And a closeup of the takedown lever... I don't know what you traded for this Luger, but it is definitely a keeper. What part of Maryland are you from? I am in Northern VA

Since this is a newbie forum, perhaps I can intrude with a question about the site. Is it possible to close the left-hand menu so I can use the whole screen and not have to use the lower move bar all the time?
Thanks Jim |

Jim,
I personally recommend that you enter the forum using the homepage, because there is a lot more to this site than just the discussions... but if you want to do as you asked, it is certainly possible, to do this is a simple matter and it should work on most websites All you have to do after opening the Lugerforum homepage is to right click on the Message Board link and then choose "Open in a New Window" and you will be in the discussion page without the left frame. Enjoy

John:
As far as I can tell this pistol is 100% original. It does not apper to have been refinished. The fellow I got it from had it for 25 years or so. I took some additional pics and posted them on my web space. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/gmoore2/jpg/ look for luger05.jpg, luger06.jpg and luger07.jpg And thanks to the moderator for posting the smaller pictures. Thanks again, Gary |
