Hey everybody!
Yesterday I got a Luger at the Reno Gun Show. Tomorrow I'll post some more pics. Don't mind my 92FS that snuck into those 3 bottom pictures--- Feeling lonely I guess. Well, it's a Mauser Luger, and they gave it to me for $850. It's in pretty good condition from the looks, and it's got all parts matching including the magazine (But there isn't a magazine loading tool.) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's where the Beretta sneaks in (Sorry, too late tonight to take more photos) ![]() ![]() Just to show the otherside of the luger. ![]() Anyways, this is my first luger. I don't know if I'll be firing it much, but if I do, what kind of ammo would you guys recommend? I'm not so certain on how to field strip it yet either. I know that mag tool that I don't have is supposed to help somehow too. I might repost the pics somewhere else in the forum later for more exposure. Looking forward to joining the Forum with you all!

M98K, Your 1940/42 appears to be an honest WW2 PO8, with a bit of hoster wear. How about posting a photo of the mag bottom. I do have most original Mauser mag loading tool available. Your PO8 is probably E/655 proofed, so that would also the proper tool marking. TH

Greg, The Luger mag does'nt load like your Beretta. The follower has to be depressed by using the button on the side. The tool hooks on the button and gives you a platform to compress the spring with your thumb while loading. Saves wear and tear on your thumb.
Looks like a nice honest pistol at not too bad a price. Congratulations! Welcome to the addiction. ![]() Ron

The one ammo recommendation I can make without hesitation is the 115 gr. Winchester 100 round bulk pack sold at Walmart for less than $11.00
I fired half a box over the weekend... no problems, and more than adequate recoil for proper functioning of the toggle. Welcome to the Lugerforum! ...and thanks for the photos!

I thought it was a VERY good price. Good job. Just be careful when taking the wood grips off, damage is easily done. Firing it also a tricky position in that the gun is old and it could damage it. You must make certain that you are willing to take the risk in firing a complete, all matching Luger like that.....
