Post A Modest Proposal

I have a Luger or two which I have intended to post pictures of, but have scratched my head at times as to which category is most appropriate. The Luger Forum has enough categories for "authentic" pieces, but nothing to cover the occasional postwar-worked or otherwise "customized" Lugers which occaionally fall into people's hands.

I would like to suggest that the "Post-WWII Lugers" forum is broad enough to include Lugers which have been civilian-reworked in some fashion--rebarrelled with non-standard barrels; target-shooting conversions; .45 (or other caliber) or Baby conversions; engraving; etc--it should be pretty clear. This would also include nickel- or chrome-plated Lugers, but -not- straight reblue or restorations which are otherwise materially unchanged.

I'll post a Luger or two along these lines presently.

Sounds like it makes sense to me Dwight!

I'm still looking for a Martz 45 or a Wyatt!

Hi Dwight,

Excellent idea. I would also consider the well-known VoPo to be added as a post-WW2 example, since they were thoroughly reworked, marked and renumbered and actually were in service after the war and can therefore be seen as a separate Post-WW2 subset.

Another alternative is to push the slide forwards in time and speak about post-1950 and pre-1950 lugers.

I concur with these recommendations that custom guns and VoPo reworks be classed as Post-WW2 guns.

I will rename this Post WW2 forum when I have access to the forum administration controls on Monday.

John,
it seems that now the post WWII topic is only related to the Stainless Steel, VoPo, & Custom Reworks. I suggest to write the complete post WWII luger production list, Interarms included.
What do you think about this suggestion?
Ciao
Mauro
