Interesting story!

I'm an airgun nut, I've got several "filled by scuba tank" airguns and a few of the Feinwerkbau's Beeman described, also several guns that Beeman distributed, but I never new they had those special Mauser Lugers, that's a rare tidbit of knowledge!

Does anyone have a photo of any of these custom Mausers? I had no idea they ever made any with ivory grips, inlay etc, would love to get a peek. Thanks for the story!

Frank et al, I don't believe that these fancy engraved models were ever widely advertised here in the US. I do have a few of Mauser's 5 page muticolor brouchers, in new condition, showing all of the various grades and models available @$3 each or 2 for $5 postpaid in US. Please add $5 for non-US S&H. "Wow". Looks like they did a nicer job on the grip shape also (compared to my "std" 6" 70's Mauser P-08, with the chubby flat sided grips which will visit Herb's "grip salon").

The gold plated grip safety looks especially interesting to me, I dont think I have seen one like that before but I like it!

Frank,

The shape of the grips was modified in 1972 to resemble the old P08 shape. Was introduced on the 1973 version, but can also be found on some earliers 'halfbreed' pre-1973 versions. My 1972-dated 7.65 has the improved grip shape.

But as one of our members said, the fit and feel of the Mauser Parabellum grips is not as nice as that of the original P08.

Thanks for the scoop on the grips. My 6" 9mm is marked 73 just ahead of the sideplate, the grips are flat sided, fat, and overlap the edges a bit, wood a bit orangish...

They will be a joy when I get them out to Hugh's "grip salon" and they return. It does seem they put some extra attention on the grip details on those "high priced girls" models, that's some nice jewelry...
