Hello:
Could anyone give me knowledgeable information about care of firearms including P08 that are shot very little Beside all the precautions to guard against rust, is it adviseable to remove the recoil springs fron semi pistoles or even remove the springs from mag's so as to keep them the strong or dose it really not matter. Some of my firearms I shoot less frequently than others. Thank You |

Jim, I think the general consensus, among gun owners, is to relax the springs as much as possible, without disassembly. For your Luger, that means remove all the cartridges from the magazine and release the firing pin, using the â??toggle backâ? technique. MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT A ROUND IN THE CHAMBER!!! That should do it for the springs.
BTW if you havenâ??t heard of the toggle back technique, you might try the search function for â??firing pin releaseâ? or a derivative. Good Hunting!! |

For longterm storage (six months or more) most collectors perfer a good gun grease such as Rig, since most oils will dry out and leave an uneven film that is difficult to remove. Tom H.
