Post My Erfurt is again!

A while back, I obtained my first Luger. It is a 1917 Erfurt, with matching numbers. The gun was mechanically sound, but unfortunately had been poorly refinished sometime in its life. Many places had been worn to bare metal, and the finish that did remain was a dull brown/black. I wanted the gun to look better, but was not sure how to go about it. I tried refinishing the gun with do-it-yourself products. No luckâ??the old gun still looked pretty sad. I finally made the decision to send it to Thor for a complete restoration. I got it back this week, and Iâ??m absolutely thrilled! The gun now looks like it did when it left the Royal Erfurt arsenal 87 years ago. It has a beautiful rust blue finish, with correct strawing and fire bluing on the smaller parts. G.T. replaced the magazine bottoms and springs, and Thor sent the grips out to Hugh Clark for cleaning and recheckering. All of this took some time, and cost a bit tooâ??but the results are stunning! I now own a â??newâ? 1917 Erfurt. And itâ??s not just a â??lookerâ?â??it shoots too! I have several friends who are waiting to handle and fire it. Iâ??m really going to enjoy sharing this gun with them. Most firearm enthusiasts who arenâ??t familiar with Lugers would be amazed with this example. My Erfurt is now as it was when it earned its place in history, and thatâ??s a big part of it for me.

If you donâ??t have a Thor restored Luger in your collection, you really need to get one. Be careful though, it may make your â??originalsâ? look a bit dowdy. Or maybe you own just one Luger, and it is a tired old â??shooterâ? that seems to be fading away. Turn it over to Thor and I promise you will not be disappointed.
