Post Look quick - ebay #74018551

I know it can't be, but there's a beautiful artillery and holster on ebay! Look quick before they pull the item. Can you believe the guts (or ignorance) to try that?

I saw it. I suspect he has no clue they are barred, since he made no effort to disguise what he was selling.

Yeah, and it looks like a nice restoration, too. I read the ad several times to make sure it wasn't just the holster or a model gun or something, but sure enough, there it is. I'm surprised it's gone this long.

I bid on it, so I could establish contact with the seller. He has offered it outright for $2,500, and I countered with a laundry list of questions. Clearly, it is restored, but if it is a decent job, and if the rig is as good as looks at a glance, and he is willing to come down, it might be a decent deal as a shooter rig, especially given what artilleries are going for these days.

There are a few troubling issues regarding this gun. Firstly he claims that the toggle stamp is S/42, which is Mauser for 1936 thru 1939. So this is obviously a forced matched gun. Secondly the holster looks to be a cheap repro, not even made correctly. IĆ¢??d say that for what he's asking you should at least get a correct holster and stock. Yes upon closer inspection the gun looks too shiny and the straw too bright for it's age.

Some discussion of this one in the general section;

It would be interesting to see the actual price that would be accepted. It's a bit to shiny really, but for substantially less than the asking it would make a fun shooter !

See the seller's response to me, on the General Discussion forum.
