Judging by what I see on the television, I think we have forgotten long ago.

Many of us have not forgotten, and likely never will.

My wife and I enjoy watching PBS, NPR, Smithsonian network, History Channel, and I am still learning not things about WW-II. The documentaries and the series like WW-II in color or Pacific in Color are fascinating to someone who never enjoyed reading history books. YouTube has recently added a lot of WW-II newsreels, as well. And, more comes up every week.

Many don't know that it was the US 3rd Infantry Division "The Rock of the Marne" that got to the Eagle's Nest first. See interesting link.

This has been a sad week in American history, when Goverment Officials (democrat mayors and Governors) allow vandalism to veteran memorials. The grafati on the WWII memorial was a disgrace and a slap in the face to WWII veterans.

We all owe much to the veterans of WW 2 as well as those who supported them on the homefront. Unfortunately, few are still with us. May the Lord bless them.

I'll never forget. My wife's father was on the third wave at Omaha Beach as a combat engineer that morning with his fellow brothers in arms. I am reminded every time I step into our den of his and all others sacrifice's when I see his burial flag with his silver star and purple heart. Bill was a true gentleman and a wonderful grandfather to my two sons.

Jeffery, the US Cemetary in my previous photo is just above Omaha beach. Here are a couple of shots of the beach itself. The German guns had an enfilade crossfire covering the entire beach

The first photo is a German gun emplacement tunneled into the cliff

Heinz,
Thanks for posting pictures of the beach. That is a lot of open beach to cross to reach the bluffs. So peaceful now.
