posted on the colt smithing forum too, but I just picked up a pre war (1943) colt official police frame. i planned on buying a parts kit to put it all back together. the kit looks to be a post war kit. the pre war has a half moon front sight, the post war has a wedge cut front sight.
i read the post war they changed the cylinder lock mechanism. but it seems the change was going from a knurled to a smooth knob. My question is would anyone know if the parts will drop in? thanks. jim |

since I posted this, found a correct barrel, crane, cylinder, and all the guts..put ot all together, files parts.that was too big. still need a shim for the cylinder to reduce the end shake, but otherwise it might shoot again. The barrel to cylinder might be .010 or a tad larger, but I'm not shooting competetion with it. jim
