The real question is why are there bottle-neck rounds in an artillery magazine?

First snail drums were developed as early as 1915. The second type were more simplified and production began around 1916 or 1917, for whatever reason I can no longer find results for it on google like I used to be able to and did frequently.
As I recall, he (Eric) has a known pre-war commercial Artillery Luger so he may have loaded up a drum mag with .30 Luger ammo if that’s what his commercial artillery is chambered for. I suppose he is the one most apt to answer that one though.

George Fortier pestered me to prove .30 Luger would work. 32 rounds spit right out. You don't need to use an Artillery. A snail drum works fine with a 4 inch barrel.
