Brass plates for unit markings

Odd question,

I've noticed brass plates on some Dutch 1906 Lugers. How exactly did they attach them?

Silver solder I assume, that's what I would use.

Probably just "soft" tin/lead solder; if silver solder is used one must heat the metal to "orange" hot, which in turn would show on the side and/or require refinishing. JMHO.

Today I would use "epoxy"!

Of course! Every plummer needs something for repairing copper pipes; and in electronic/electric repair; and in gunsmithing.
Tin/lead is the choice -f you have some left;.

Lead is frowned on now and has been replaced with another low melting metal and the solder does not work as well as a result. JMHO.

But in the "Dutch" case we are talking about more than 70 years ago so it was the soft solder that was available.

I still use it quite a lot in auto/wiring repairs, and other odd jobs. It still works great.
