From the George Anderson Collection~ A S9eitengewehr) 84/98 nA S. Pictured is a S 84/98nA which is not a deadly saw-back. The last "S" in the designation of this bayonet indicates saw-back. Saw back bayonets were issued to troops involved in areas of battlefield construction such as combat engineers, artillery troops and telegraph and telephone troops~

I have a saw back bayonet marked with a crown with a W underneath and the number 16 underneath that. Made by J. Corts Sohn at Remscheid. Overall length in sheath: 20 3/8"
