A little cheer for Christmas... Glenn Miller German War Broadcasts

Here's a little joy for the Christmas season - that isn't the Christmas music we hear each year.

In mid-1944, 70 years ago, Glenn Miller and the Army Airforce Band recorded a series of propaganda broadcasts for the American Office of War Information. These were recorded just months before Miller was lost over the English Channel on December 15, 1944.

Hoststed by Miller and Ilsa Weinberger mostly in the German language (including Miller's very American accented use of German), the broadcasts were beamed into Germany, where Hitler had banned popular Swing culture and music as degenerate.
