Well, I saw this in a local shop going for about $750 and I thought 'I wouldn't mind another shooter' so...
I've stripped her down and the numbers are all matching on this gun except for the wood based magazine (which has a chip on the left side). The serial number is 9247 e (most of the markings are still crisp but the little Prussian eagle stamp near the barrel on the right hand side of the frame is a little weak).

I prefer them in the blue, but everyone should own a nickle or chrome Luger
. I especially like them if the markings are sharp like this...

Ed,
I just finished posting in the Vickers thread and mentioned this pistol there. I see you found it first! I prefer them in the blue as well but there was something about this that made me think I needed to have it in my collection. Some of the corners are a little rounded but I, too, was surprised at how crisp the markings were. I think I'll leave these grips on. No 'blingy' grips for me.

..Lordy…..I remember when I was about 8 or 10 years old…(born 1941)…hearing the ole WW2 and Korean Vets talking about having their "war souvenirs chromed"…..thats what they called it back then….and I really believe they used to take them to a car bumper shop to have them "chromed"…..I just remember it was "the thing" for some Vets to do back then……..one of my neighbors showed me a Colt 1911 .45 that his dad brought back…..all matching numbers…..and it had been "chromed"…….Ah Well……Hans Fischer

It looks like whoever plated it knew what he was doing. The numbers and other areas usually buffed to death appear to be quite nice. I would have purchased that Luger had it been offered to me at that price.

Gentlemen, I haven't tried her out yet. I brought her home, cleaned and oiled, and took a few photos yesterday. I have to find some time to go to the range now, I think. I figured that I needed at least one chromed/nickeled Luger and this was a good looking example.
I couldn't resist when they said 'It just came in a few days ago and we're offering it at $750 out the door.'

Stone the crows, but I like it (and have been looking for one, myself.) NO shame in a nickle-plated Luger!
