I acquired this Mauser Caliper recently.
It's not a US Import model, and has German abbreviations and Kg. based round and rectangular rod weight estimation tables on the back. Near the Mauser logo (7 bar) it has the letters "WL" or the letter "W" and a equal armed right angle engraved. Near the other end, it has a Stick Eagle and WaA 42 electro-penciled over the digit "7". Has anyone seen a Mauser related tool marked this way? Pictures below... Thanks, Marc

I believe that one of our moderators, VLIM, has a collection of Mauser manufactured hand tools... and probably also Mauro...

Yes - Mauro has many of the tools and gauges that the 1970s era Mauser used for manufacture of the modern Lugers they made. They may have earlier tools too...
This tool has the pre through mid WW-II WaffenAmt office inspector number "42" penciled on it. I know that electro-pencil was used in manufacture of slides by Walther (to mark the inside serial numbers) before the war, so the tool itself existed. It would make sense that the inspector shop would not use an actual inspector die to stamp the tool because it wasn't being approved by the inspector, and the hardened stainless steel would probably not have been compatible with the dies. The engraved "WL" might be someone's initials, or a shop abbreviation... The other Mauser calipers I have are quite different, as they were made for export to the USA and don't have the German abbreviations or other features of this caliper... Marc Marc
