Default Give Credit Where Credit Is Due

A very good friend recently lost (almost) all of his possessions when his home caught fire early one morning, he, his wife and one dog made it out okay but one of his dogs became frightened and went back inside. He is a long time deputy sheriff and had a large gun collection that he kept in a recently purchased Snap-On gun safe, he assumed that because of the intensity and duration of the fire they were lost, there was some damage to the outside of the safe but his firearms and the ammunition stored inside were undamaged, he called Snap-on to replace a few parts and they told him they would send him a replacement at no charge. His service pistol, a Springfield Armory 9mm was left on his night stand, it didn't make it through the fire but he called them to ask if repairs might be possible, they told him that if he would pay the $19.95 S&H they would send a replacement at no charge. I think that speaks very well of both of these company's.

We experienced a fire about seven years ago. Awful thing, smoke damage causes more damage and death than the fire many times.

Sounds like good companies, thank you for telling us!

As a follow up to the above post (Give Credit Where Credit Is Due) my friend is a fourth degree black belt and proficient in two other forms of martial arts, he teaches all three but also one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet very humble, quiet and soft spoken but when he and his wife went back to his burnt out home, he to mow the grass and his wife to see if there was anything left inside to salvage she heard a noise somewhere in the house, she then went outside to tell her husband, he went inside to investigate and discovered a burglar, to make a long story short the would be thief swung at him, big mistake, the arresting officers had to make a stop at the hospital to get the guy patched up. My friend had installed night vision cameras after the fire and they paid off, there are currently four bad guys behind bars from three separate incidences that occurred within a few weeks of the fire, two more are still on the loose. I guess there is still some degree of justice left in this world.

You'r welcome Ed, and I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I agree completely, all the damage, destruction and more importantly death is not caused by just heat alone.

Lon, After the huge fire here in Colorado this Summer..Black Forest..Thieves decended on 500 homes burnt and thousands left defensless and robbed and plundered. Disgusting state of affairs when these monsters prey on people who have lost everything to fire. Vultures is too kind a word..

Amen to that Jerry, anyone that would take advantage of a situation like that are the scum of the earth, that kind of greed is completely inexcusable. Unfortunately they live all around us.
