I don't like engravings, but I think this is elegant.

I love, and own a few engraved handguns. This example is not what I would consider fine engraving. I, personally, could not get interested in this example. Engraving is such a personal thing, and what is nice to one person, just doesn't cut it for another.

I'd have to agree. This is only a cut above etching or pantograph work. I truly carved engraving job is art.

I couldn't say better. Personally I think that a Luger pistol is essentially a martial gun, thus engraving is not suited for them. But, as said, it is a personal choice/opinion.

not in the debate if the work is hi quality or not. but i like it since the engraver did not go overboard and left portions untouched.

It's a matter of choice actualy, what is not setting this pistol off is mostly the back ground , which is pencil stempled rather than hand. overall the the design is good, i am thinking it was para engraved which made the cuts lighter . the enclosed picture is of a efurt i had worked on years ago , it as you can tell is deeply engraved , too say the least. It is all a matter of indivual taste.

I think the subject gun would be better if the engraving was a little less. Many times, less is better; as is this case.
