My understanding on Waltham was simple: it was inexpensive but good quality product in its days. Supposedly, no one would bother to fake a Waltham due to it's hard to make money out of it. But, was there a wristwatch brand with same name in Europe??

Interesting question, took a quick look. Wiki note touches on Swiss made Waltham watches.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waltham_Watch_Company IIRC Waltham started a subsidiary in Switzerland before going out of business. Might still have Swiss made Waltham watches available. But some Waltham watches are made in China. |

Thanks for the info. Back a few years ago, I visited a fake watch flea market in southern China. It's very impressive. The asking price was, of course, much lower than Swiss brand names, but I found friends could still talk listing price down another 80%. Lots of foreign tourists there.

At least 50% of Rolexes you see on people's wrists are fake.
