If you like Lugers, you've probably visited 1896mauser.com...Created by "Nemo", William Whitelaw of Framingham, Massachusetts...
Nemo has not posted on his own Forum in over a year and a half... His Forum is right now as we speak being overrun by spammers...and there are no members with Moderator powers... If anyone has any knowledge of what has happened to Nemo, or has contact with him or his close circle of friends, please inform him/them of his Forum/sites distress... The regulars of his Forums fear the worst... ![]() |

Well, unless it is a free hosting site, someone is paying the monthly fees for computers, through put, etc.
do a search of whois and then contact whoever owns the site. Registrant Search:"William Whitelaw" owns about 4 other domains Email Search: www.whitepages.com Wm F Whitelaw ![]() Framingham, MA 01702-6933 (508) 872-3703

Postie -- Would you call him? You guys will have common language. He was a machanical guy as well. How do I know? See this page:
http://bridgeport.askmisterscience.com/bridgeport.htm How many people could move this type thing to basement, alone? Visiting residence without invitation is not a good idea. He must have a bunch of guns at home, what if he misunderstands what you're trying to do.....could be dangerous. |

His report on movement of that bridgeport milling machine 60 miles on a trailer made of WOOD and then down his outside basement stairs made the hair on the back of my neck stand up... What a nightmare! Not to mention probably illegal to move it on a public thorofare on an unrated trailer!
He is probably laid up at his house with a hernia and can't get to the computer to admin his board... Let us know what you find out about his well being...

I'm curious if there have been any updates as to the whereabouts or well being of Nemo? His C96 forum has been completely overrun by spammers and is essentially unusable. It is a sad thing to see; I'll miss most of the lively discussions there, both the arcane and insightful, the droll and the stimulating.

In memorial of nemo, he's the first found and documented two things in this type of gun:
(1) 9x19 comes with flat sight ramp. Simple and obvious, but amazingly no one else mentioned in any book that I've read; (2) NS safety was invented to move hammer away from sear when applied on, so the gun is safer. That's great observation. Even well known collector was less correct on that one in recent publication. Of course, there are some other observations documented in his main site. ==== Irrelevant. Economy is not good, no interesting guns on market either. Probably everyone assume it's not good timing. The market is dull. |

The website www.1896mauser.com has been down for quite a while, and we had difficulty contacting the site owner. He must have found some inspiration somewhere, as he managed to get a backup of the site going again. It needs a bit of touching up here and there, but it is still a good online starting point for basic info on the C96:
