Replica?

Does anyone know of a place in NJ where I can get a working replica of the Luger or Borchardt?

Try ebay they usually have a lot of them. Just type in Luger in the search block. http://www.ebay.com.

Both Mitchell Arms and Stoeger made/make stainless steel "repro" lugers. Mitchell went out-of-busniess in the early 1990's and I think Stoeger units are still being made in Texas by AIMCO and are offered in S/S finish and a blackened-S/S finish. Go to Gunsamerica.com and you can see various offerings for both, in their luger section. Pricing seems to be in the $600 to $800 price range. DFWarms.com has Stoegers available.

Mauser made a "new" luger in the 1970-1980's that were imported to the USA by Interarms. If you do a "search" of the Luger Froum's message board for the keyword "Interarms", you can get lots of info. regarding the Mauser lugers from this new period.

Gunsamerica.com has a couple of Mauser offerings with good photos. Adamsguns.com also has one. SimpsonLTD.com also offers many Mausers, at a bit higher pricing range, though.

Pricing for the Mauser "new" lugers runs from $800 up through $ 1000 for NIB units. Much higher for special, commemorative models.

There is some debate amongst the luger experts on this Forum and elsewhere whether these "new" Mauser-Interarms lugers from the 1970-1980"s are real lugers or not. They were made by Mauser on original tooling from WWII days, but maybe the craftsmanship from the old masters of the 1930-1940's is missing in their production...

Tom Heller at Hellerarms.com (see the Links section of the Luger Forum) sells these "new" Mauser lugers too. I have just purchased one from Tom and am looking forward to delivery this week.

I decided a NIB Mauser-Interarms luger would be my 1st. luger and one that could be a "shooter" for me without the worry of an older gun with its history and its wear-n-tear.

I am now on a hunt for my 1st. real historic luger that would have some collector-potential that I would not shoot.

Rich, forget ebay. They have a policy, no firearms, except non firing movie prop guns. Check Gun Broker or Auction Arms. Hope this helps as a guide.....

What does Rich mean by a "replica"? I have one of those Spanish made lugers that have all the removable parts and working action, but it does not actually fire. I am willing to part with it if that is what is wanted. I am in NJ too.

It is the Luger that is sold by Collector`s Armory for $90. I was going to take it to a upcoming milatary show with $60 on it. It came the solid barrel with the orange "dont shoot me,it`s fake" cap in the end. The orange plug is gone, but the replica is like new otherwise. I matches my 1941 Mauser in all respects except for the barrel length which is about 1/4 inch shorter than the real thing.
