Default My Cordovan 1915 Holster

attached is a photo of my 1915 Billep/Spandau holster.

You will note that it is numbered to 6657

My gun, A DWM 1915 6657-F is really 'cherry' with TWO matching numbered wood based mags. The stitching is rotten in one spot on the holster and the bottom of the mag pouch is worn........still, a nice rig!

How common is this numbering of the holsters?

Hi Orv,

Numbering of holsters seems to have been peculiar to the Imperial and Weimar Navy as well as all over the board for Polezi units.

I have a very interseting Weimar navy/early Nazi 4" pistol in 7.65 that has the pistol SN, the Weimar navy proof and the caliber all stamped on the face of the holster. The holster is depicted in one of Jan Still's books, why the pistol is not portrayed is a mystery...the really neat thing is that the pistol, mag and holster all have the same property number on them. Picked it up at MAX 2000 for a song. Some days are wonderful!

The MAX comes from Military Extravaganza Show. The very first Max Show was held in St. Louis, and was a show to remember. The main ballroom had virtually no lighting and you practically needed a flashlight to get around, the lower level must have been a parking garage and was about 40 degrees, but one side room was well lit and had some fantastic displays.

MAX is currently held in the Expoland Hotel in Monroeville PA in late October each year. Almost an acre of military stuff from everywhere and always some very nice Lugers. Ralph S and Bob S always have several tables and for the past 2 years fellow member Derek Seltzer and I have had tables also.I think I sold about 9 Lugers while I was there last year and bought a killer '06 Navy with matching property numbered mag in a primo type 1 holster.

It is a wonderful venue to recycle stuff you are tired of for new stuff, cash or whatever.

Highly recommended.
