1939 S/42 Luger/ Need help IDing it

Hello,

First post here. Looking to get some more information on this Luger my dad has had for 30+ years. He's keeping it in the family, but we were just curious as to it's history since we've wondered all these years. So I thought I would ask the expert's. It has all matching #'s as well as one of the magazines are matching. If you would put a value on it, it would just be for fun to know.
