I'm having a helluva time trying to figure out how to post pictures. I have followed the directions in the "Sticky," but when I hit "browse" and go to my picture's file, it appears that it is trying to download the whole file and I get a "failed to download" message. Also, I don't understand why I should have to open a new thread to get this done. I notice that other members include pictures in some of their replies to threads without having to start a new thread. This is perplexing. I think something that is supposed to be simple is turning out to be impossible.

It can be frustrating sometimes. I will do my best to help you. Right click and create a folder on your desktop, then put your pictures in that folder, next open a new thread or post and scroll down to "manage attachments" left click on that and a window will come up and click on browse, find the folder you created and click on that and then click open on the picture in the folder you want to post and then click upload. Afer the picture is loaded, click on "privew post" to see if it is what you wanted.
Good luck, it's really simple once you get the hang of it.

You should be able to post pictures on any thread using the method I described.

Harry,

I did what you said to do, but when I right click, it does not give me a "create folder" option. All of my pistures are in a file known as HP Photosmart Essentials. I have no trouble printing them from this location, but when I click on the forum browse and go to pictures, it does not display everything I have in HP Photosmart. I have all my gun pictures in HP Photosmart listed in a category titled "GUNS." but it doesn't show up when I click on browse. I think I'll just give this up as a bad idea. Thanks anyway.

Harry,

I managed to create a new folder, but I can't seem to transfer the pics to the new folder. Should I cut and paste to do this?

I'm not familiar with where you have you photos stored. In order for the pictures to be on the forum forever, you need to post them to the forum from a folder and not a link. There are a several ways to put the pictures in your folder, I always have to do things the hard way. I'm no expert on computers.

Well, I managed to transfer a picture to the new folder and when I open the folder the picture is there, but when I go on the forum and hit browse and open the new folder, it shows up as "empty." Maybe I need a new laptop.

I did all the things outlined above and when I download, I get the message that the file failed to download. I've had enough of this for now. Thanks to all. I'm starting to suffer from computer overload

There is a limit to the size photo you can download. Your photo may be over-sized.

Hey guys, just download Picasa from Google. Spend a few moments (maybe a day or 2) getting familiar with the program and then you'll be able to do just about anything you need to with it. I'm 79 and have trouble running a cell phone but Picasa (a free program) is intelligible to me. I can correct color, Adjust lighting resize all that good stuff.

Lotsaluck, Lliam.

PS. Harry, I'd really like to know more about that beautiful P.38 carbine. And Steve, Picasa could give Lola (whatever she wants she gets) the eye makeup she would ask for if she could talk.

Lliam,
I'll check into Picasa to get rid of the "blue-eye" on Lola. That effect is different on my Chihuahua, his eyes are red in photos.

Thanks

Steve, and all who chimed in here;

I prob'ly sound like a Picasa salesman but I'm a fair amatuer photog, very experienced in film. Some time back I spent $96 for a digital photo program and it's good but so complicated it's a real challenge to use. Google charges nothing for Picasa and it does almost everything the high dollar job does and easily. Maybe not quite as refined but you can re-touch and correct color and lighting, group into albums, catagorise and email .
I'd be interested to know how it works for you. Maybe one of the moderators could plant a sticky about it.
