I am looking for information on a (my) German luger. ON top, it has a large "G" stamped above the chamber and behind that is "S/42". Also stamped in many places including the left side of the chamber is 3814, with 14 stamped many other places. On the right side of the chamber is stamped "W154", "S92" and what appears to be an eagle. Any information that could be provided would be greatly appeciated. Thank You.

Sounds like you have a late 'G' date. w154 S92 , 7200a-800d . There should be a small script letter under the serial number on the front of the fame. 'G' was the army secret code for 1935. This should help in your forum search

*Only* if you enter the Forums through http://www.lugerforum.com/
If you enter through http://forum.lugerforum.com/ there is no 'left side' with a site index... This is a source of confusion for many members...Including me, for over a year...

Auburnbw,
Value is somewhere between $500 and $3000 depending on condition. Pictures are crucial in determining the value. I am assuming the mag(s) are not numbered to the gun. Bob |

It came with a holster that has several stamps on the back of the holster (which is brown leather): (1) "Ryffel & Borns Hannover 1936" (2) Eagle over Swastika (3) "W8A330"
I will include pics as soon as I can findle the USB cable of my camera. All of it is in very good shape. Also I think that letter you mentioned on the front is an "L". Also the magazine fits but is not the same serial number. I need to insure it and wonder how much for? Thank You. |

L suffix would be for a 1936 gun (not a G Date). 3814 at front of frame above the "L" too? Looking forward to the pictures.

It could be a partially struck 'b' which fits the W154 S92 acceptance stamps. The suffixes were stamped on a curved part of the frame, and the lower half of the suffix is sometimes lightly struck.
