Default Rock Island Auction Item

Was just browsing through the Rock Island site and found a gold plated police rework. Here's a link and two photos.

http://rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/51/lid/1584

Someone put a lot of work into this pistol.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Dave in TN.

I just got a phone msg on my recorder today, from some girl at RIA promoting the Dec 3 auction...and telling me to order my auction catalog before they sell out...

This luger is purported to have some significant prevenance. It was displayed at the recent Reno show. Note the expected bidding range!

Why on earth would Joachin Von Ribbentrop give Franz Von Papen a dolled-up, reworked Weimar re-issue police Luger when he could have ordered a completely original Mauser gun from the factory to his exact specifications?

I sincerely doubt this provenance.......

Doug, this gold plated luger is a 1939 dated police Mauser banner luger, not a Weimar rework. Look in the RIA catalog under its lot number to see the top view.
