Hey Folks,
Curious as to what people think this gun should sell for? This is pretty much what I'm looking for, but I'm kind of surprised where he is starting the bidding (maybe I shouldn't be?). This should give me a good baseline for what an all matching WW2 Era gun should go for. Thanks for your thoughts.... http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=145268334 |

That has a matching magazine, drives the price up at least 25%, and sometimes 50% of the value.
Read through the posts, decide what type you're looking for... MADE during WW2, made before and USED during WW2, etc, etc. AND decide is only a matched luger with matched magazine wanted, if so, set your amount $300-$700 higher than without one... Ed |

Saaismail,
You might want to look at: checkpointcharlies.com They appear to be reliable gun dealers and have some fairly reasonable prices on their guns. I haven't dealt with them personally, but have been considering buying from them. I have talked online with a couple of folks that have bought from them and they seemed to be alright with their dealings. They have some decent looking guns and then some that are less so, but they seem to market them at realistic prices. If any of you other forum folks have had any dealings with checkpoint charlies, I sure like to hear your opinions. barr44 |

My experience with Checkpoint Charlie has been positive and I agree that, among dealers anyway, he offers some more reasonably priced lugers (although I have never purchased a luger from him). You should note that he seems to place a higher premium on WWII era lugers than WWI and that he places a higher value on "restored" (refinished) lugers. In my opinion, much of his Luger inventory is what I would call high end shooters as opposed to true collector grade examples. As with any dealer ask a lot of questions and request better photos than what is posted on the web site. I have purchased a few military rifles from him and have been satisfied with both transactions. Bottom line, I would say that he is an honest businessman. KFS

My experience with Checkpoint Charlie has been very positive. I stopped at his place of business (his home) a few years ago. Very nice gentlemen. I would trust him on any deal. In my opinion one of our most honest dealers. Bill
