Does anyone know the exact angle formed between the grip and the rails of the frame?
Thanks! Jeff |

I always thought that it was 55.3 degrees.

Alf,
Of course, you are correct. I got my numbers backward. Sixty degrees is the grip angle of the .45 caliber Lugers that still are in existance (the Aberman and Norton Lugers). Fifty-five degrees is the grip angle of the 45 caliber Luger used in the US Test trials of 1907 and all other Lugers. Thanks for correcting my memory lapse.

Does anyone know if the .22 caliber Ruger Mark 1, 2, or 3 comes close to this angle, or is my question pure heresy?

I had some free time, so I took my Ruger Mk II SS auto w/tapered short barrel apart and measured the grip angle with a protractor...This is a pic from the Web, with my actual measurement marked on it...

Wow! That's good to know, especially if one wants to shoot a "near-Luger" on the cheap. Hmmmm ... now to drop a hint or two to my wife in time for Christmas.
