So, I purchased the pistol discussed here:previous thread, and the seller has given me the choice between the mismatched magazine that came with the gun and an unmarked period replacement. The replacement seems in better shape, and I was going to opt for it, but wanted the thumbs up before choosing. The copper-toned magazine in the pictures below is the unmarked one.

Take the copper-tone. Much nicer of the two.

John,
The "copper" colored mag is an Erfurt mag. Although probably more valueable than the DWM if both were side by side on a gun show table. However, to match your DWM, the choice is clear. Mike |

Greetings,
I presume a different type of material was used on the Erfurt. If you are wondering how to tell the difference, please note the small indenture just below the thumb screw. An Erfurt mag has a perfectly rectangular indenture, whereas on a DWM the indenture is almost semi-circle. In my experience, most of the Erfurt mags I have seen have a green tint. I would think the Erfurt mag in question here will eventully have that tint. Mike |
