I used a seperate '3rd party' flash system, when taking pics of guns. I usually put it off to the side about 4 feet away from the gun. So, when my digital camera flash goes off, the other unit detects it, and sends a split-second delayed 2nd-flash. Which, gives a clean shot of the gun. I use the white backgrounds, to blend in with HTML pages. Looks flush and nice.
you can also buy the external flash unit for dirt-cheap (any camera shop). I'll check out the flood-light system too! Very nice pic you posted!
