Default No 9mm ammo available on the Internet !!

Has anyone else noticed that all of the bigger sources of mail order ammo are totally out of stock (Cabellas, Midway, Ables etc...) and those that might have some obscure brand or loading in stock are priced 2X-3X what you might expect?? Joe

Yes, ammo is a speculator's market right now. Thank liberal dems and their threats to "tag" ammo and add cripling EPA surtaxes to all ammo purchases, plus the current administration's clear anti-gun stance for the existing market.
If you want to be truly shocked go price .308, .223 or 7.62x39. All the "assault rifle" ammo is through the roof. That being said, there is still some reasonable availability on 9mm.

Thanks for the input, but after checking these out this was the result. Cole Dist did not offer Any 9mm posted on their site that I could navigate to. Sportsmanguide for the two types I tried to put in my cart stated a ESTIMATED shipping date of Apr 23. And Century seems to just offer some stuff made in South Africa, I didn't call their 800 number to investigate further. I guess finding the White Box Winchester will be like finding the Holy Grail for the forseeable future. My employer (who is an avid talk-radio fan and a conservative blogger) states that the DOD has been directed to no longer sell ANY fired brass on the surplus market, but they must shred it and sell as scrap on the open market. Most is going to China. Several of the Larger Ammo remanufacturers are said to be letting 50% of their work force go. I guess this is how they will actually control our firearms in the nEW wORLD oRDER. Good thing most of you guys are collecting Lugers that you don't dare shoot anyway. Joe

Things aren't that dire, but yes, news of ammo being hard to get and price going up has been talked about for the last two years.

WAAAY before President Obama came into office. The Dept of Defense has been buying 9mm, 5.56 and 7.62mm for the last 8-9 years at enormous rates.

I still see plenty of ammo at gun shows here in Pennsylvania.

And there was ammo at Wal-Mart last time I looked.... (doesn't mean it won't get harder to get)

I've been buying my 9mm ammo on GunBroker. I buy ammo by the case. 1000rds. Federal American Eagle for $310.00 delivered.

I've kinda been stocking up for the rough times that may be ahead for the last 6 months. I guess I have about 2000rds. of various calibers for each handgun (I own 7) and 3000rds. for each EBR (evil black rifle) I own (4).

If you need ammo that bad, I promise to gouge every nickel and dime from you...

Best time to try Walmart is early morning. They stock it late at night(when they get trucks in). This info was given to me by a Walmart employee a few weeks ago. They actually had some 380 the other day.

The Winchester White-Box value pack even showed up over here. Since the stability in Iraq is increasing, I think we've seen the worst.

We had similar problems over here, local ammunition dealers had trouble getting supplies from the main manufacturers because of the increased demand and brass/copper prices were rediculously high because of the increased speculation on the international market (the forebearer of the financial crisis).

It is getting hard, ALL pistol ammo was sold at Walmartthe other day. (Opposite of what I observed not long ago).

Could be lack of buying, as Walmart is cheap and if they can't get the product for cheap, that might be part of it; and could just be they can't get it...

Walmart is the first place that sells out. They have the cheapest prices. There are Gun shops in my area that buy all they can from Walmart then resell it at there store for a very nice profit. I went in one day and Wally had 10K of each 9mm, 40 and 45 cal on the shelves. 2 days later nothing.
