41- 42 Luger

This is my last acquisition for my collection, a 41 Ã¢?? 42 Luger. I have been yearning for this Luger for a long time. As you all know the estimate production of this Luger is just 7000, so it has been on my wish list for a long time.
ItÃ¢??s condition is not outstanding, but acceptable.
It was with a Simson magazine, which I replaced with an fxo mag, since I do not have a type 3 Army mag for it and the Simson magazine went into the Magazine collection...

Sorry for the quality of the photos, but buying Lugers signify little money to buy a good camera..

Nice, except the left grip appears to be a new repro. If not correctly numbered to the luger, perhaps I can supply a correct one. Lugerdoc at hellerarms@webtv.net

I should have added that the gun is all matching including the firing pin and the grips.
I would be glad to buy any type 3 army magazine for this Luger.

Alf, a "proper" magazine for your Luger is a 122 Code WaA E/37 in the N-Block. I looked in my spare box and couldn't find one.

Alf,
I have a 41/42 that was refinished at sometime in the past. I was wondering if yours has a barrel proof on the upper left rear portion of the barrel? Mine doesn't seem to have that proof, but I believe it is supposed to have it. It seems to have all of the proofs on the right side of the receiver and on the barrel, which are still pretty sharp. The one on my gun may have been polished off , especially if it were fairly faint.

Hi Barry, Yes my barrel has two stamps and the the barrel gauge which is 8.81. the stamps are Acceptance stamp E/655 and the Army Test Proof.
Attached photo of stamps, I hope that they are clear enough for you to see.

Evidently the acceptance stamp on my pistol has been buffed off, although there is some minute trace of it on the left upper rear portion of the barrel. Other than that all of the other markings are strong and correct.
It's a unique variation, so enjoy yours, being all original except for your mag. still makes it a prized possession, I'm sure.
Mine came with a correct mag. of the period, but it doesn't match the serial number of the gun. Sounds like with the help of some of those on the forum, you'll be able to solve that problem easy enough. This is a great group of folks here.

I am glad to say that I found a correct Type3 Army magazine for my luger and I am waiting for it to arrive.

It's always fun to find a nice 41-42 Luger. one thing I might point out is that 7000 is an old number. Research has found the production of these pistols to be closer to 15,000. The 1940-42 Lugers occupied the first 2500 serial numbers in the early - n - block. After that it was all 41-42 Lugers. This in itself was 7500 pistols. Thank Frank for his - n - block research, he convinved me there were no 41-byf Lugers in the - n - block leaving only 1940-42 in the early part and the rest being 41-42 Lugers. After the - n - block there will be many 41-42 Lugers to be found that were assembled along with the 41-byf Lugers in the - o - and - p - block and a very few in the - r - block, even one reported by R Gibson in the ns block of 1942.
