Hello to all, I have been working with, and reworking MEC-GAR mags for a while now and I'm getting a bit better at making them do what I want... But, I still have a little ways to go... But, while messing around with them the other day, I discovered that an fxo bottom, this one was aluminum, would fit nicely on a squared off mag shell... with a little work a Black Plastic one would also fit... They would make a great shooting functional mag!!! My question is this: are most of the baby's shortened by a half an inch?? If that or less, it might just work... also how many shells does it need to hold...?? Any of you Baby 08 guys that are interested let me know... best to all, til...lat'r...GT

Gerald,
I observed a Mauser made baby luger in Germany last year. It had a shortened MecGar or MFT made magazine. No effort was made to fill in the magazine follower button gap. The fact that the bodies are hardened and the bottom piece is held in place by two pins seems to suffice. |

Hi Gerben, Yes, I also have seen that..in fact...most of the time... But, it seems to me, that with an fxo type bottom, it may not be necessary to cut up and into the follower button slot?? And, and fxo mag has even a shorter follower slot, so it might work out even better... plus the nice clean look when finished... Just a thought for the guys who want to shoot them.. Best to you G, til..lat'r...GT
