Default How to tell a mis-matched luger?

Friend called me up,has found a luger for sale where he lives, he's a 1911 nut like me, knows nothing of Luger details (also like me), we do know how to look at matching finishes, he says the #'s match o.k. all over , but the rear toggle surface metal looks better than the receiver metal surface, more age shows on receiver than on rear toggle surface, the front toggle is DWM logo marked, we're wondering if some one found a matching# toggle and replaced the original for some reason, maybe the toggle is DWM but rest of pistol is some other maufacturer? so what we would like to know is if there is something on frame or receiver that will identify the maker?

Yes and no; if it is a later Mauser frame it'll have the mauser hump (See FAQ). If it is colored differently then that is a good indication that the parts don't belong....
