I got my C&R a while back and have been buying a few CZ's, TT's, Makarov, etc. I really wanted a Luger but was intimidated by the huge prices. After much research I think I found one I like. It is a 1938 S42 with all matching numbers including the mag. It also comes with an original holster with breakdown tool and extra mag. The holster is in great shape. The reason it is a shooter is that it has been hot re-blued. The gunsmith did a good job leaving all the markings in-tack. I want a good looking gun that has some historical meaning but, most important, I also want to shoot it. I was about to buy an interarms, then this one popped up. What would be a fair price? I am not looking to steal anything, but I also don't want to be ripped off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim McCarthy

Tim,
Welcome to the forum. I don't think that you're going to get anyone to venture a guess. This rig could be worth anywhere from $500 to $2500. Without seeing good clear photos it's impossible to estimate a value. If you can't get photos? Tell us what the asking price is, and maybe we can tell you what to roughly expect for that price. There were 113,800 1938 S/42s produced. So it's not an exceptionally rare Luger. Ron

Rons right, except if its been reblued, even as a rig, it is worth only $550-$700, all depending on if holster has not been modified, how badly reblued etc.
