Default ? New old mag. Need a button.

Hi there, well i picked up a new mag today and got home and somewhere along the way the litle button thing on the side came out. Ill have to look in the truck to see if its in there but im wondering why it would have came out and how i can get it back in if i find it and if i dont where can i get one.
Also ill post pics. im curious as to what it exactly is.
Aluminum base with what looks like a little K at the top, then a 2, then 3486, then at the bottom 60.
What does it sound like it is.
Thanks
Jarrod

Jarrod, sounds like a police (the #2 would be the 2nd mag to a luger). I'd like to see a picture of the K and the 60... Is it a starburst K?

I think lugerdoc used to have these. At one time GT made up a bunch, I should have bought 20 of them, but did not...

Its a funny looking K thats for sure.
Should i be trying to really find that button.
Why would it come out?
Whats it actualy worth?
Its nothing pretty, its got some "patina" to it. Not a piece of crap but its got some dark spots on it and one of the sides to the base has a little bur on it and is dark in the center. Just comes from age i think.
Thanks
Jarrod

well, if you don't find the mag button , it'll cost $10-20 to replace it I'd guess.

Here is one; http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=85763121

I would think a mag without the button would sell for $30-$35 and with it, in the shape you said, $60, nicer it is, than $85-$100

You have to push the mag button in (it should be missing the button AND the stem), if the stem is still there, well, you're screwed, and i doubt you could weld the little button on. If you have the stem and button, then you brace one side and pop in the stem and button. I think you bring the follower down to the hole in the side of the mag. I can do it if it is in front of me...

Nah... if the stem is still there it can be punched out through the hole you mentioned and a new button installed. But unless the mag is properly supported, punching out the old button then installing the new one and staking it in place is going to bend the bejeebers out of the mag.

L-D How exactly do you have to put it in, id think all you would have to do is support the back side of the mag and press it in. Ive built cars how hard can it be, Would you be willing to help me out on telling me how to put it in.
I cant find the old one either.
And ive been working long days to make up for what i gave for it, I thought i was getting a good deal on something i could trade for a 1917 holster, since i saw that one sunburst mag go for $300.
I gave $100 for it, and most likely the button had problems before and was just temply put back in so it could be sold.
....Why is it always me that gets took. Is it even worth putting the button back in, or should it become a range mag. Does anyone need that # mag?
And a little more about the K. Its at the top of the base, you know...where the numbers are punched on. Its pretty small and it has something that looks white in it and what apears to be a sun flare on the top...but its so small its hard telling if its that or not.
Id never seen a pic of one before i baught this one so i thought i might have found the real deal...
Its too late to take pics, ill try to get them on tomarrow.
How bad is it...my buy?
Thanks
