Stoeger sick and beautiful

Hello I used to have 4 lugers all with the nazi markings on them all matched except ones side plate I sold them off a few years ago and they sure went up in value. I sure regret what I did well after the whole thing about being bitter that i cant find a time machine and i cant spend like i used to i started to look around for a better hobby but Lugers are where its at. so as luck would have it a couple a weeks ago i went to a gun store that caters to police market and found a stainless stoeger 9mm it is mint condition for 595.oo I bought it. I guess that dont happen much I guess the folks that shop there prefer a modern gun and over look this type. well any way soon The extractors pin busted Luckily I found the extractor itself with some help at the range. I ordered some pins and springs from numrich but the pins were for the 22 cal stoeger I went to my buddy and he hooked it up with the right pin. any way It has trouble feeding so I may try the Value box of winchester from wal mart. Any tips for tweaking are appreciated also does any one know where i can buy a stoeger extractor for a spare in case im in the woods and loose it. the one at numrich is for a 22 Thanks greenpen

Walther, Unless the part that you need is interchangable with the standard PO8 which would not be in stainless steel, your will have to get the original parts from the manufacturer (see the recommended vendor section). Lugerdoc

IMHO, after struggling with three of these stainless steel Stoegers, I have given up on them, as being just too sloppily made, ill fitted, and not sufficiently hard. Not hard enough to sustain firing live ammo, especially the toggle ramps on the frame, which were hammered out of shape by the toggle recoiling, but too soft inside also, where the metal is just mushy.
The exterior buffing and polishing would pass for a Taurus, or Rossi, but compared to a German P08, NO comparison.
For the same money, or close, I recommend a shooter genuine Luger, and if you want the silvery look, and the German gun is not a collector grade, strip off the old messed up original finish and enjoy the naked gun look.

The photos above show a gun that has extensive light-to-heavy pitting in various areas, but after some filing and sanding, and complete chemical stripping (and a new Austrian barrel) it looks miles better than the rusted and deeply pitted, and re-blued, and re-rusted mess it was before.

This was the first Luger I bought after giving up on the pretty Stoegers, and it is alot more satisfying to have a usable, parts-available, solidly made (1917) precise, cheap and real gun.

Same here. I had a Mitchell (later sold by Stoeger). They can be made to function correctly, I understand, but the aggravation is simply not worth it.
There are so many guys here who can provide you with "the real thing", that works, and at a good price that the Mitchell/Stoeger just isn't worth it. Life's too short for such aggravation.

Thanks for the info about the Stoegers. Personally I am a little surprised. You would think the Stoeger people would have stronger metals and newer guns would be stronger than my tired 70 year old DWM's.

I was thinking about selling my tempermental P08's and buying the newer & "improved" stainless pistols.
