Guys,
I'm going to an auction on September 23rd and saw this pistol in the catalog. I will view the guns I am bidding on this Friday before the auction. Here is the edited description from the catalog ... "serial number 4425 .. pistol has a 41 chamber and 42 coded toggle with Luftwaffe acceptance stamps on the barrel, bolt and barrel extention. 92% original blue with finish loss on the lower portion of the backstrap where the stock lug was removed and reblued with a very close color match ..... (The grips are matched to the gun) ... plastic based FXO magazine is also numbered to the gun. Price is $2,000-3,000 What is it worth and is this correct? I am a P.38 guy and don't know much about Lugers ... but kinda like this gun. What should I look for? Thanks, Mark |

(If this helps)
I am looking at one now which will cost me $2000 (if I take it). Comes with a 1940 dated holster holster and a (unmarked) tool.

Also, last week there was one (for sale) in a gun shop in Florence, Ky. but it has been refinished. I recall it being priced below $2,000. It is possible that it may still be there as there were also two artilleries also.
Just thought I would mention it.

Hi,
The fact that someone removed the stocklug and reblued the area should lower the value considerably, even if it is a Ku. |

My personal opinion is like Gerben V. ... $2000 is way too high for a gun that has been altered by complete removal of the stock lug... it would be a high class shooter in my opinion, not worth more than $700-1000. perhaps a little better than a Krieghoff that had undergone the Mexican engraving shop treatment..
![]() I would pass on this one Mark... Number matched FXO mag with a bakelite bottom? that shouts FAKE to me... bakelite would shatter if stamped with a number... the numbers would have to be pantographed... I would bet dollars to donuts that the size and font of the numbers on the magazine do not match the timeperiod or the numbers on the gun...

Thanks guys!
KU Lugers is not my area of expertise, the gun sounds like a "hump" but I'll take a quick look at it while I am there ...... I am actually going to be bidding on an e/l 1934 Mauser, two P.38's and a VOPO Luger. Ed, are you going on the 23rd? The auction is in Manchester. Mark |

Mark & John S, The KU PO8s are the only ones that were issued with a panagraph numbered (numeric digit only) BPB FXO mag. TH

Hey Tom... thanks for that insight on the numbered BPB FXO mags... can you cite a reference for that info since so little is known about the Ku Lugers? or is that your experience in handling these types of Luger?
