Are the grips black? If so, are they the same as those found on Mauser made Lugers?

Yes, black grips. Very much like byf. Will do side by side comparison when I am off the road...assuming that day comes.

Good for you!!!

Yes - 1945 HKs are "real", as are late variation '44s. However - as a caveat - BE VEEEERRRRRY CAREFUL of some "1945" HKs.

As for 1939 HKs.....

Anyway - nice acquisition - and thanks for the serial #..!!!
