Hi,
Just noticed that the latest version of 'Google Earth' now has detailed aerial photos of the Berlin-Borsigwalde area. This offers a nice view on the complex in it's current state. ![]() Detail of the facade with water tower: ![]() View of the front, taken during my visit in october 2005: ![]() ![]() The same building in 1939: ![]() From 1935 on, Mauser rented a large part of the complex, which was also ordered to be destroyed by the French occupational forces in 1948. The facade remainend, but the buildings behind it were destroyed. ![]() Traces of the destruction of the Mauser part of the complex can still be seen on the Google Earth images. Faint outlines of some of the former buildings are visible. ![]() |

Hi Mauro,
There are no concrete plans yet, but I'll keep the idea alive. Perhaps we can organize a European field trip to some of the sites. Karlsruhe and Oberdorf a.N. are not far apart. |

Okay, where is the Heckler and Koch site. For some time I've thought that they built on top of the old Mauser factory.....
PS: Thanks for sharing this interesting info. |

Great read, thanks. I thought I'd read that the Hk site had actaully built on top of the old Mauser plant. You just never know what you read these days.

Guys,
Please keep us posted as to the plans for a German field trip...maybe 3-4 months in advance. That would allow some to buy cheaper airfare. especially from the USA. I would certainly plan to come over for such a field trip ! |
