Default Commercial "Banner" 1937

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=304177988

There are some details about this Luger that don't seem right, don't seem original, but would appreciate some further expert evaluation.

Sideplate finish looks different than adjacent frame ?
Safety lever finish not strawed ?
Blue ( especially on frame ) appears to be the thinner salt-blue characteristic of late WW2, not the rust-blue I thought belongs on this gun.

What do you think about it ?

The trigger plate looks like it's had different wear than the nearby receiver.

1937 was a year of transition, and included both strawed and salt blued trigger and safety lever parts. Likewise, some pistols were salt blued, and others rust blued.

What bothers me more is the contour and profile of the safety lever, which appears to have been ground down and re-numbered.

Here (by reference to the ad) is the lever on the pistol that is for sale:

Here's one of my Mauser Lugers (below)... You can see (above) where the top layer of the lever has been removed toward the end on the for sale Luger...

Im curious on that safety, as the crown on the one for sale is curved and the other looks flat. Is that just an optical illusion with picture or is that what Im seeing?

To me, the subscript bloc letter w looks too large and deeply stamped, compared to most I have seen, and the frame's curve there looks re-radiused, like a renumbered frame, maybe.

I agree that the safety lever has been grouned and re numbered. The seven is original and a six or eight was removed and replaced with the nine.
